Fundraising
EAA Chapter 461 is a non-profit organization sustained by fundraising events and generous donations from its members and visitors who value our plans, programs, projects, and community-focused activities.
Fundraising isn’t as fun as all-things-aviation, but it is a necessary function of our organization. As such, we host several public events throughout the year where we sell merchandise and accept donations to raise funds to support our programs and projects. Some of those events are as follows:
- Cavalcade of Planes – Clow Airport’s annual public open house event which takes place on the first weekend of June. During the event, we typically support rides aboard EAA’s Ford Trimotor aircraft, teach aircraft construction basics, and host 1:1 scale mockups of Project Mercury and Project Gemini spacecraft where attendees have an opportunity to experience the confined quarters of spaceflight. We also go back in time to the 1980s with Matt Hissem’s Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine!

After their flight, children will receive a logbook, flight certificate, and information about how to enroll in online Private Pilot ground school free of charge.
- Chow at Clow – Most Sunday afternoons from late May until mid-September, we open our hangar for an informal “bring your own food” social gathering where we polish up on our hangar flying, share stories and ideas, and maybe even take to the sky if the weather is cooperative.
- Haunted Hangar – In late October, we break out our dancing pumpkins, kiddie bowling lanes, coloring table, and beanbag toss game to host a candy-fueled good time for the local goblins, ghosts, and ghouls that dare to darken our doorstep.
And finally, we accept donations year-round via Zelle, PayPal, cash, and check.
